Important! Antifreeze danger!

I mentioned something about antifreeze a week or two ago but after hearing some appalling news, I feel that this deserves front page attention. RSPCA blog updated with some chilling news in the Sevenoaks area and I suggest you read it: Five cats poisoned in same road in Sevenoaks – RSPCA Regional News

Antifreeze is so deadly to pets that you should always clean up a spillage or take action if you suspect a spillage. It doesn’t take a lot of this stuff to seriously harm or even kill a cat. You might not have a cat but it is a good idea to clean up any antifreeze as cats could wander onto your property. If you suspect someone is using antifreeze to poison cats, please contact the RSPCA.

As we are going through a cold snap, more people will be using antifreeze so please be more vigilant and have an eye out for any cat that looks like a victim of poisoning as time is an important factor.

My heart goes out to those poor cats and their owners. Lets hope this was a result of an extremely careless person and not a malicious attack.

  • Hello, I admire your compassion and efforts. I do suggest that domestic cats be kept indoors or in a wire cattery. They are indescriminate killers and native to nowhere at this point. In a cattery they can play without indescriminate harms. As a resident next to a neighbor with 5 cats that poop, urinate and spread flea eggs across an entire block without city regulations to protect neighbors, I am disgusted that I cannot garden on my own property without a greenhose surrounded by a cat exclosure fence to protect the bird feeders. The cats scratched into the greenhouse making it Toxiplasmosis is a parasite carried by cats in their stool which is killing sea otters in Hawaii locations. It is tranmissible to humans and other mammals; it attacks the Central Nervous system lodging in the brain. Australian native species are being extincted by domestic cats; search engine info offers details of efforts to curtail free movement of domestic cats. Ovetall, the sacrifice of millions of birds by cat fanciers is irrational. My dog is an invasive species, yes, but I don't let it run after deer or elk, nor kill voles. I bag her stool and dispose hygienically. My point is this: if one has an affection for an invasive predator then limit it's range so it does not harm native species or other humans. Written kindly.
